LET'S CELEBRATE TOGETHER
About Me
My name is LA Williams, and I’m a Broadway Director, Life Coach, Motivational
Speaker, and Podcast Host with nearly 20 years of experience guiding creative and
personal breakthroughs. I’ve worked across Broadway stages, film and television sets,
boardrooms, classrooms, and cultural institutions. I help people go beneath the surface, beyond roles, titles, or achievements, and reconnect with what’s REAL in their lives.
As a theatre director and life coach, I create spaces for transformation. Whether you’re a
high-powered executive, a creative visionary, or someone in the midst of a transition, I
help you press pause, release what no longer serves you, and reconnect with your
authentic self. One step at a time.
My Background as a Life Coach
In the fall of 2020, while going through a breakup alone in my New York City apartment
during the pandemic, a friend gifted me what I remember was called a “healing session”
with a life coach. That one session didn’t solve everything. However, it was the
beginning of something much bigger. I ended up studying with my life coach for almost a
full year, giving myself the time and space to practice and put into play all that I was
learning in our sessions.
While my work with my life coach definitely helped me navigate what I was going
through at the time, more than that, it gave me the life-changing tools I needed to begin
shifting my mindset, removing fear, and facing head-on the limiting beliefs I had placed
upon myself. Looking back, that was the lead-up to me creating Hot Mess Express: On-
the-Spot Life Coaching.Skipping ahead to the summer of 2022 into 2023, after several weekend trips down to
D.C., I realized I was deeply drawn to the quality of life I was experiencing on my visits. I
especially fell in love with the farmers markets, the abundance of museums, and how
much cleaner the city felt compared to NYC. Even though I felt called to D.C., I still
thought I needed some type of “security” before I made the move.
At the time, I was deeply invested in becoming an Artistic Director because I believed it
was the next step in making the kind of impact I wanted to have on the theater industry. I
applied to be the Artistic Director of Arena Stage. Although I didn’t get the role, I decided
to move to D.C. anyway, and I took a huge leap of faith.
When I first arrived, I had no idea that a few short months later, I would end up setting up
a tent at a farmers market and offering life coaching to strangers. In May 2024, that’s
exactly what I did. I set up a tent at the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market and started offering
on-the-spot life coaching to anyone who had the courage to stop by. A year later, I’m still
here, growing my business, deepening my practice, and staying committed to the same
goal: serving up inspiration, motivation, and transformation on the spot and in real time.
The leadership I was seeking to embody as an Artistic Director, supporting artists and
institutions in becoming healthier, more human, and more whole, is the same intention
that now lives at the heart of my life coaching work.
Welcome to the Hot Mess Express: On-the-Spot Life Coaching Transformation Station
At the core of my life coaching philosophy is one central tenet: REST. Here at the
Transformation Station, you are invited to take your seat and breathe. Despite all the
chaos around you or within you, this space is a sanctuary to reconnect with yourself and to
RESET, REFOCUS, or even RESTART, as many times as you need to.
This offering is my love letter to courage. It’s a dual-purpose gift: to keep giving myself
the space to answer my own calling and to share those gifts with others. A lot of the
people who find their way to this work are carrying a lot. Navigating life transitions,
work-life imbalance, strained relationships, or the fear of taking a leap. They’re holding it
all together while quietly trying to figure out how to make meaningful change.
Hot Mess Express: On-the-Spot Life Coaching meets people in that place and offers the
space to break through, dive deeper, shift focus, and begin the journey of life-changing
transformation. This is a brave space for real transformation in real time. And yes, we offer
Real Talk, Real Tools, Real Fast… and Real Hugs, too.
So if you’re here at the Transformation Station, you’ve already taken the first step. Now
hop aboard the train, and let’s go on this journey together. You are not alone. I created this
space for you.
